Christmas greetings

I must apologize to any followers who have been disappointed with the lack of cards and postings this year. It has not been a good year for me health wise and my cards and blogs have been sadly neglected. I did make family cards during the year but only posted a few. I am hoping to turn over a new leaf in the New Year and do more.

It's been quite a while since I have been on my blog so apologies to everyone. I am still in a lot of pain with my hand and arm so not much cards being made. I am now waiting for an operation which hopefully will happen in the next few months. Meantime I have made a couple of cards - one for my grand-daughter's 18th and one RSVP for a wedding invite. Nothing fancy just added the usual glitter, ribbons and jewels.

A happy picture of my mum and dad holding lots of memories for me as this would have been my dad's 98th birthday on the 23rd and the anniversary of my mum's passing on the 21st April. Almost ten years since my dad died and eight years for my mum.
They had been married 67 years when my dad died and had very rarely been parted apart from the War years.
They are so much in my mind and so much missed especially when a birthday or mother/father's day comes around.
Very much missed by me and all my family. x

Best I can do just now as I am in so much pain with my right arm, shoulder and hand. It's a start!

Neglected

My poor neglected blog I have not posted anything since I came home late November from Canada. I can only say that I have been really unwell since coming home and the horrible winter that we have had in this part of Scotland has not helped matters much.
I have made a few cards this year but have not bothered to post them on my blog so I will have to get my fingers out when I am feeling a bit better and make some cards.
Apologies to any of my blog followers for the lack of imput but wishing you all well for the coming year and happy crafting!.

Well my last posting for a while as we are off to Canada via Glasgow on Sunday!
I have been getting the most out of my Greetings Card deluxe programme and have made some more cards. I decorated most with some ribbon, pearls and some glamour dust to finish them off. I have not had the time to sit and make up something from scratch as have so much to do before Sunday, so I hope you like what I have come up with.

Steps Back in Amazement!

Amazing here I am after all these months of silence and posting! I feel really guilty and have no excuses for the absence - I just didn't feel like crafting or chatting.
Health wise the specialist finally put me onto insulin injections and although at first I was really disappointed and concerned about the weight problems it has turned out better than expected. My blood sugars are finally getting near normal, also my blood pressure and I have managed to keep the weight off that I lost so I am well pleased. Won't say it's been perfect as have had lots of problems with my arthritis and other things but I'm not complaining.
I have made a few cards in lieu of going of on holiday next month so I will be posting them over the next few weeks. Here are the first three so hope you like them as I have kept it simple with just a few embellishments.

Weight Loss

Well it's been a while since I wrote about my diabetes. I had the clinic on Tuesday and I am glad to report that I lost another 2.3 kilos so all in all I have lost 2st 6lbs in weight which I am really pleased about. Unfortunately, my blood sugars are still not under control and am now taking the last step of upping my dosage of metaformin to 6 x 500mg a day on top of my injections and all the other pills I have to take. I really don't know what else to do as I have tried all the things the diabetic nurse has suggested and nothing seems to take the blood sugars down. This morning was one of the best readings at 13.2 which is still very high. If this doesn't work then when I see the specialist in June she might say I have to go onto insulin which is the very last thing I want. Anyway, will cross that bridge when it happens.

Meantime I have used one of my stash cards that I made last year added a few finishing touches and an insert for our cousins 87th birthday on Saturday. I hope it will cheer her up as she is now residing in a home down in Surrey.

60th Birthday

I wanted to make this a special card for a friend's 60th but when it came down to it I just didn't have the time or mojo to do it. I used a lovely thick leather like card stock and printed the picture of the pansies onto it. I then highlighted the black of the pansies with glossy accents and added some glamour dust to the wings of the bee and jewels for the eyes. Finished off with some ribbon for effect. I do hope she will like it.

Hello again folks. I made my first A4 card today for my daughter in law's birthday. I stamped on the background swirl in a pale Brilliant moonlight white also along the curved edges. I added a corresponding border with a Martha Stewart large punch and then added a sentiment from Joanna Sheen's new Word CD including the insert and background papers. Finished off with some jewels and a few stickers to make it pop.

Anniversary

Hello folks sorry it has been so long since my last posting. What with my computer giving up the ghost and not feeling like making any cards with the horrible weather we have had, the weeks have flown by. I cannot believe that it is March already and a few brave crocus's are coming out to bud which is lovely to see in the last few sunny days we have had.
I have made some cards but forgot to take photo's as the computer was away getting fixed. Anyway today I finally sat down and made one for a forthcoming anniversary. Nothing too fancy so hope you like it.

Welcome 2010

Well here we are in 2010 and I hope all my followers and crafting friends had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Myself and hubby had a lovely Christmas with the family then unfortunately my lovely no 1 son decided to share his cold with us so we were laid up from Boxing day until after the New Year. It was very, very quiet with the horrendous weather we are having and so treacherous on the pavements and roads that I have been stuck in the house. Today is the first day I have ventured out via hubby and the car and only downtown to get my new spectacles and a few messages then home again.
We did get forms to renew our passports and got some passport photos [ugh] the second stage in organising our holiday this year. The first stage was booking the fights which is in September to Canada for three months, we are so looking forward to it. Hubby retires then hence the long holiday to see family and friends over there.
No cards or crafting yet but hoping to get back to it soon. Take care and haste ye back...

Anniversary

It's our wedding anniversary a few days after Christmas so while I was still in the mood I made this card for hubby. I used some beautiful 12 x 12 papers I had cut them to size [sacrilege I know but needs must]. I then used a couple of Penny Black stamps left them without adding colour, nestibilities and added ribbon and black pearls at each corner.

Here is the Christmas card I made for him too. Similar to the other ones but I was running out of ideas by the time I made it. I did add his initial in pearls and finished using glamour dust.

Noel II

I finally finished all my Christmas cards and got them all away in the post. Here are some of the last ones I made. Once again I used my NOEL Rubber Tapestry stamps and various background papers and my Cuttlebug embossing folder. Added glamour dust, ribbons and mirror card.

Festive Willow

Some more Christmas cards must be getting fed-up seeing them. I know I will be glad when I finally get them all finished. I have still so much to do, decorate the living room, get the tree up, wrap up presents, the list is endless. I am supposed to be resting but am exhausted sitting making cards until all hours. Oh well, wouldn't do it if I didn't love it.

This first one is using my Rubber Tapestry stamps again and adding some small pearls and glamour dust.

The second one is again using the Rubber Tapestry stamps, and adding background papers, mirror card and a small bow.

Finally this one is special won't say for who at the moment in case they see my blog. I mounted various papers and mirror card and then added my new Whiff of Joy stamps Willow and sentiment, used my new Promarker pens for the first time which was hard to get used too. I then cut her out and mounted her onto the card, added bows and flowers to finish it off. Here's hoping they will like it.

My new stamps from Rubber Stamp Tapestry arrived on Saturday so have been having a play with them. I did quite a few cards but am only showing a couple so you get the idea of what I created with them. The first I stamped then mounted onto Nestabilities and then onto Christmas background papers. I added ribbon and some pearls and lastly glamour dust.

The second card I used the Noel set to enhance one of my Cuttlebug embossing folders, then used the corner snowflake from Martha Stewart to cut out the corners. I mounted onto another cuttlebug embossed background with I think makes the image 'pop' and finally my favourite - glamour dust.

Mixture

Haven't been keeping so well since yesterday got real scare and had to call doctor so am on strict instructions to rest and take things easy.
Here are some of the cards that I made on Tuesday before I took unwell. As I have still so many to make I utilised some toppers I had left over from last year and added some bits and bobs and used my Cuttlebug. I hope you like them.

La Blanche III

Another two cards I made in a similar way to the one that I entered into the competition in the post below.

The first one I used StazOn black ink on my new reindeer La Blanche stamp. Then added some glamour dust mounted onto a background made with my Cuttlebug embossing folder. Finished off with gold ribbon and charm and a couple of sentiments in gold and red to add a touch of colour.

This one I used three La Blanche bauble stamps, hand drew the ribbon and used the antler stamp side on to hang the baubles from. Coloured the edging with gold ink, added a sparkle background, some red pearls. gold ribbon and a small flower again edged in gold. Finished off with another sentiment.

Challenge 39 Christmas

It has been ages since I did a challenge and as I am already making Christmas cards I thought I would enter this one on Creative Card Crew website. I stamped my card with another of my new stamps the antlers come separate so you can use them for other things [very clever]. Using my heat gun I melted the gold embossing powder, and mounted on to gold mirror card. Cut some gold ribbon in half and added a christmas bell charm and sentiment.

La Blanche II

I persevered and managed finally to get a couple of decent cards done with my bigger stamps from La Blanche. As I wanted them for this weekend for posting abroad. I did the backgrounds with smaller stamps in gold ink and then used gold embossing powder on the trees. I mounted them on to gold mirror card and finished off with some gold ribbon, charms and sentiments.

I did several others but am not happy with the quality I am getting with my camera so I will take them again and post later.

Christmas fairies

Well I have managed to make twenty Christmas cards this last week so am pleased still have a lot more to make and all the inserts to do but at least I should have finished my Canadian ones on target. Here are another two examples out of the ones I did yesterday.

This one I stamped coloured with Marvy Le Plume pens added backgrounds made with my nestabilities, and embossed with my Cuttlebug. I did border with Martha Stewart punch and added a few embellishments.

This one ended up with a different topper as I ruined the stamped one intended for the card but I am pleased with the finished result. I added some ribbon and Christmas charm.

La Blanche

A few more cards using some new foam stamps by a company called La Blanche. I was pleasantly surprised at the crisp images I achieved with them.

I stamped then chalked the images and added some pretty little jewels and background papers.

I would have had some more done but they are bigger stamps than I normally use and I am having trouble getting a good image because the arthritis in my hands is very painful, but will keep trying and hope to post photo soon.

This time I used some Cuddly Buddly stamps I bought last year and never used, my Prisma pencils again some new background papers and charms. The colouring in takes the time and as I have still so many to make will have to come up with some other ideas.

Birthday cards

Finally I have my computer back and have spend the morning uploading photos of my cards - some birthday and some Christmas onto my blog. Hope you like them.

First one is for a friend who will be celebrating her 65th birthday next month. Used Penny Black stamp and coloured with my Prismacolour pencils. [Did buy some Promarkers but can't get the hang of them yet]. Mounted and layered and added ribbon, sentiments, and jewels.

Second one is for another friend who has birthday in December. Again used a couple of Penny Black stamps, coloured again with Prismas, layered and added ribbon and jewels. Finally used Martha Stewart punch. Did do another two birthday ones but can't show them yet in case friends see them on blog.

Still Here

Well after a great start I have not been able to get online again. At the moment my computer is in getting fixed and I am using hubby's notebook which is why no photos of my latest cards are available. Once my computer is back am hoping to upload the cards I have done so far.

Meanwhile, I was up in Aberdeen babysitting my grand-daughters and their dog, Poppy for the last three days. Enjoyed myself and got to spend some quality time with the girls. Went out a few walks with Poppy and she and I got on well she is a lovely loveable dog and surprisingly I am missing her.

Went shopping in the HobbyCraft store in the new centre Union Square but found although lovely shop prices expensive can get some things cheaper online. Bought some Christmas papers and a few bits and bobs. Am sitting here surrounded with my craft stuff, shawl around my shoulders as it is so cold and damp today so must get started doing some stamping.

I'm Back

After several months of inactivity I am finally back! My loyal followers must be truly fed-up with me and I have no excuse really. My mojo up and went and have been through the mill with new treatment for my diabetes but at least it seems to be working. I have lost 10 kilos [22lbs] at last count with the hospital and I think I have lost a little more but not sure how reliable my scales are lol. I am so chuffed can hardly believe it so long may it continue.

Now down to business I have my BIL's birthday this month so finally sat down this morning and made a card. Nothing fancy but I love the scene and colours. I mounted scene onto lovely jade coloured card stock and decoupaged the oval picture added a little glamour dust and a ribbon.

65th Birthday

Got off my backside today and sat and made card for my neighbour's 65th birthday. He loves flowers and gardening so stamped this image of morning glory's by Stamping Up and coloured it with Faber-Castell watercolour pencils. Mounted and layered several times added bow and sentiments. Hope he likes and it doesn't look to feminine.

Again apologies for photo not getting the light right here.

I also finished off another card today for hubby's birthday on Saturday. Hadn't a clue what to do so pumped for a cat image as even if he doesn't admit it he does love cats. This was done with pop out decoupage [which is just as well as my wrists and fingers have been really sore these last few days]. Added the usual sentiments and not much else, so again, hope he likes it as not my usual.

Golf

Today I am posting the card I made for my brother's birthday. He is a golf fanatic so what's more appropriate than a picture of a golf course. It doesn't look like much in the photo but I printed off the golf scene and then decoupaged the tree which gives it more of a 3D effect.

First of the Month

First day of September and first day of my new regime with my diabetic medicines. I now have to inject myself twice a day on top of all the different medicines I have to take so here's hoping the side effects mentioned don't last too long.
On a more lighthearted subject I have made a couple of cards but need to finish them off so will post them when they are ready.
Meantime here are a couple of photos taken while on holiday - the first one is the sun going down outside our holiday cottage in Appleby Magna and some lovely old houses in Market Bosworth

The third and fourth are photos taken while on a trip down the Avon while in Stratford.

Holidays

My last blog for a couple of weeks am off tomorrow on holiday and really looking forward to it. We are going down towards Leicestershire where I have never been before and quite a drive for us but we will take it in easy stages. Bought OH a Sat/Nav so hopefully that will help us a lot getting there without pouring over maps. Praying for good weather and less rain so until I come back be good.
Oh by the way the scrapbook went down well she loved it.

Well I finally finished the scrapbook and decorated the cover and inside with encouraging quotes to help a 16 year old along the way! My son and DIL are having a bar-b-que for our grand-daughter's birthday, and 17 of her friends, on Friday so that should be fun!

GARDEN
Went out in the rain yesterday and took a few photos of my potted lilies and one of my hydrangea's which had finally decided to flower after about three years. It is a gorgeous colour completely different from the other one which is hues of lilac and blue.

It's Monday again and I have one card left to show of the series I did last week. As I said I still have a couple left to do and must get on and finish scrapbook. Maybe I will post some pages if you are patient with me.
Tomorrow I finally have my appointment with the diabetic specialist at Stracathro Hospital and I am all nerves today thinking about it. The appointment is over one and a half hours so don't know what to expect but I suppose they will be showing me how to use the injections and checking me out health-wise. It's long overdue I know but still doesn't make it any less easy for me and I am in such pain today with my sciatica that I could cry.
Anyway, changing the subject here is the card made for my DIL's birthday in September [see I did say I was ahead of myself lol].

Butterfly

Glad it is Friday as means OH home over the weekend. I'm not normally lonely but for some reason this week have missed his company. Well gradually all my aches and pains have come back and I wonder if all the anti-biotics pumped into me lately have kept them at bay! My knee and elbow are extremely painful again to say the least and now my sciatica has returned too. Walking around is torture feel like I have been left out in rain to rust lol.
On to a more pleasant subject this is my last card of the week and I hope whoever has been following my blog [especially my friend Linda] have enjoyed looking at them. This one is for my niece - again ahead of myself her birthday is next month but will be away on holiday so best get them all done in advance.

I have a few more to do but am busy just now doing a scrapbook for my grand-daughter's 16th so will have to get that finished soon.

Today's card is one I made for my other grand-daughter who will be the grand old age of 12 at the beginning of September [getting ahead of myself]. Naomi is so full of life it is difficult to pin down what all she likes or more to the point the few things she doesn't. The card in the end I made was of a huge birthday cake with all the colours she loves - simple [as the meerkat would say lol].

Celebrations

Had a brilliant time at our son's 40th surprise party have posted picture on Facebook if anyone interested to see. It was wonderful to meet all his friends that I remember as little boys visiting my home in their lunch hours from school. I got so many bear hugs from these strapping big men when we met again. Some after many years and others who had become life long friends with my sons. It did my heart good to see them all together again with their families and enjoying themselves.
Anyway I digress, the family are now safely away on a two weeks holiday so I can now publish the rest of the cards that I made for their birthdays. Here is the first one today...

This one is for my grand-daughter's 16th birthday when she comes home. It was difficult to decide what to make but as they have a small dog I decided on this image. The die-cut is mounted on two layers then I did the tag with a ribbon around it's neck added the numbers, butterfly and sentiment. Another cute one I think.

Today's card was at the request of my Dutch DIL who wanted something special for her sister's birthday. Sat down with her yesterday morning and after much picking and discussing we came up with this.

I love the colours and how they all blend so well with each other in this one it looks so sweet!

First card in Ages

Here I am one week later and still alive! Feeling much better but still have blasted cough but didn't deter me to go and get my hair done yesterday. First time since last October so it was a real mess. Son's 40th on Friday so had to look good for that at least.
Made all of six cards and still have a couple to do - lots of birthdays the next couple of months so trying to get ahead. The first is for No 1 son so hope he doesn't take it into his head to look at my blog.

Had some nice card stock which I used and then decoupaged the dog and balloon onto it. Added sentiment, age etc but refrained from anything else in case it made it look girly!

Here we are a week later and I am no better. The cough is still bad and my head too with my sinus's and runny nose. I have been feeling shivery and cold too and the receptionist at the doctors was not going to let me see him in case I had Swine flu! Eventually I did and got another course of anti-biotic' s and told to rest. The rash on my legs is getting better and not itching now and hopefully it will start to fade soon. The lump is still there not sore anymore so I suppose it is progress of a kind!
I have a backlog of cards to make so hoping I will feel well enough to start in a couple of days.

No crafting

Sorry no cards this past week but have been under the weather again. My feet and ankles have been really badly swollen and I have come out with some sort of rash on my legs which is rather itchy to say the least. I now have to take penicillin tables to help clear [but so far nothing happening] I also have an abscess growing between my boobs of all places. To crown it all I now have a real bad chesty cough and runny nose. I think I will take up the offer from my friend Jackie and borrow her gun lol!

Cards for Canada

Two cards for Canada today - one is for my great-niece who has just given birth to her second boy at the weekend. Reilly Lucas is his name and he weighed in at 6lbs 5ozs on Sunday 28th June 2 weeks early but I think his mum was glad it was over quick.

Used some card stock I had and layered and punched with Martha Stewart new punch. Added some decoupage animals, ribbon and flowers. Finally added his name and sentiment.

My second card is for a cousin who has been unwell for some time she is a paraplegic and suffers a lot and has been really through the mill lately so hope she likes the card.

I made this one simple with a lovely verse [which unfortunately you cannot see clearly because the flash got in the way] and just some layered flowers, pearls again used Martha Stewart punch.

Flutter By Wednesday #63

Thought I would do another challenge today as I have been spending far to much time on Facebook! This one took a lot of thought on how to do it as the theme was an outdoors card with either a butterfly or fairy for Flutter By Wednesday.
I used some papers by K & Co of daffodils, butterflies & ladybirds. Cut out my new Sugar Nellie stamp called Fragile Beauty [coloured with Prisma pens]and mounted her onto the paper. I added some jewels and flowers just to finish it off. It is supposed to look like she is kneeling among the daffodils! Don't know if you can see but she is holding a butterfly and another one sits on the toadstool.
It certainly had my brain working and hope that you like it.

The Weekend

I haven't done any challenges this weekend as I have had my two grand-daughters to stay and we have had such fun. We went for lunch on Saturday courtesy of my youngest son and his wife which was lovely. We then went shopping and I bought them some clothes for their holiday coming up next month. Well that was hilarious as Naomi the youngest does not like trying on clothes. I wish I had had a camcorder with us to record the goings on with her , it was hilarious but in the end she picked two dresses, a schrug [spelling] and a top. Laura the oldest had no problems she knew what she wanted straight away!
On Sunday we sat with the main computer, Laura was on her laptop and Naomi used her grandfather's notebook. We all went onto Facebook and I showed them how to play several of the most popular games. Again it was great fun and we didn't even notice the sun shining outside. When their dad came to pick them up he thought we were all nuts missing out on the beautiful day. The poor dog Poppy was totally out of it with the heat, felt so sorry for her.

Here are a few photos of Naomi at her Prom on Friday night - she is the tallest of them all! Needless to say her grandfather and I are so proud of her - she starts secondary school after the summer holidays.

Been busy this week taking delivery of a new fridge/freezer today and tomorrow a new sideboard to hide away all my crafting stuff [if possible] that is all over the dining room.
Been spending too much time on Facebook too must say it gets addictive!
Always wanted to try the easy pop out decoupage [die cut]and until recently had never bought any. These die cuts were included in a kit from QVC I know some of you might think it is cheating but so much easier on my arthritis than cutting out.
Anyway made this card for a friend's birthday coming up next month and thought it suitable for a man. Love the owl I think he is real cute!

Stampin' for the weekend Challenge 2 - Mr Clown

Been a busy week and have got myself hooked on Facebook and the games [like I have nothing else to do!] but today I have stayed away to get some stamping done.
This weeks competition for Stampin' for the Weekend is Digi Images. Now I have never down this before so I found the site they mentioned and bought an image.

I printed it, coloured it with my Twinking H20's & Prisma pencils. Then decoupaged it and mounted it onto another image. I used papers from Papermania which I found when hunting for something different- I had never used them before. Then decorated with flowers and added some glamour dust to his coat and balloons.

I think he is rather cute!

There is a new blog called Stampin for the Weekend and the theme for the first competition is called From Dusk to Dawn using the colours purple and yellow. I just happen to have a stamped image I coloured with my Prisma's some time ago so used that and background papers, flowers and ribbons and my new Martha Stewart punch.

I just love butterflies so I couldn't resist stamping this one then decoupaging it onto a card. I also stamped around the card not sure about the effect but as it's the first I have made in ages so I will leave it.

Took the plunge this morning and made an appointment to see the Doctor. Gave him a list [in case I forgot anything] of all the things that had been happening to me. He took my blood pressure too and it was up so not too happy about that! He seems to think that I either have a virus or the new pills are disagreeing with my other ones I take for my diabetes. Now have pills to counteract the sickness until I see the nurse again next week. Doctor is in agreement with her and thinks he will have to refer me to the specialist and I will have to go on insulin or a combination of insulin and some of the pills I am already taking. Oh the joys!!
I did manage to go to my craft class this morning before seeing the Doctor but I was so unwell when I got there that I just sat and chatted and had a cup of tea to settle my stomach. It was a shame as this was the last one before the summer break.

Bank Holiday Monday but not here in Scotland - in my neck of the woods anyway! Still not feeling up to scratch but my friend came down to visit for the weekend so that was fantastic. The first time I have seen her this year as she was in Australia visiting her daughter until the end of March and then she has been ill herself. What a pair we are, but it was so lovely to see her and catch up on all her news. Sadly she went home early this morning, OH gave her a lift back to Aberdeen.
Been catching up on my favourite blogs and everyone seems to have been real busy with their crafting so I will have to get my backside in gear and get on with some soon.

Good & Not so Good News

Well after a promising week with the diet, out walking each night for a hour [taking things slowly]. The blood sugars are finally coming down into reasonable figures 9.0 and below which is a relief. I did some gardening last Thursday but managed to pull the muscles in my lower back so was in agony all weekend!
Still managed to see the new Star Trek film [courtesy of youngest son, Michael - part of my birthday present from him and Wendy [DIL]. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone out there who loves Sci-fi films.
My eyesight is still bothering me and come Monday I felt really ill, severe dizzyness, vomiting and diarrhoea. It was really scary so Tuesday I just took things easy and chilled out. Today I had my appointment with the diabetic nurse and explained how I was feeling to her. Although she was pleased with me and my weight loss [6lbs whoopee do!] she advised I go home and take it easy for the next few days incase I had one of these bugs that is going around. If I am not right after a couple of days I have to phone her. Must say I am feeling really peculiar and am off now to have a lie down for a while.
Sorry no cards but hopefully back to normal soon.

Well I finally sat down and made a card with my new Daisy stamps. In checking out the blogs I visit Nicola mentioned a flutterby competition so I thought I would have a go. It is also for my friend who has not been well these past few months since she came home from a holiday in Australia. I hope the card cheers her up as I miss seeing her. [Picture not the greatest for some reason]

I stamped the image with versamark and coloured in with Prisma pens and a few Sekura ones. Mounted onto a reverse frame from my Nestabilities and added papers ribbon and flowers from stash.

Oh dear, I have been neglecting my poor blog a lot lately. I celebrated another birthday on the first and received some lovely cards from friends and family so thank you all especially the handmade ones.

Birthday flowers from OH

The ongoing saga with my diabetes continues and I have had a reprieve until the 20th to give the new pills a chance. My blood sugars are starting to go down so I am forever hopeful. I have had to cut down even more on my carbohydrates as they seem to think this will help with my weight and the bloods, also if I go on insulin it could be a real problem. I'm not hopeful though as after trying for the past 50 years there is not much I can be told about dieting. Maybe I should write my own book only nothing has worked longterm so wouldn't be a bestseller anytime soon!
Bought some crafting goodies, first time this year so am hopeful I will feel like playing with them and post the results on here over the next few days.

Had a quiet weekend, OH was working Saturday stocktaking so he came home pretty tired. Over the weekend we received word from OH's cousin in Canada that his mother had died. She was a lovely lady and we have fond memories of holidays with her and her husband.
I made this card to send over and added one of my crochet flowers as a keepsake for her daughter. I do hope she likes it.

I made it up from my PC Crafter program and added the verses from another program I have. I finished off with the crochet flower and brad.

I also did another card in a similar fashion for a work colleague of OH who lives and works in Houston. The lady has recently retired so I thought this one would make her smile.

The picture has been printed twice then mounted with foam squares. A little glamour dust has been added and a ribbon to finish it off.

Well kept my appointment with the diabetic nurse today but not good news. My bloods are really bad and I have been put on even more pills for the next two weeks. If this is not successful then I will have to see the specialist at the hospital who will probably put me on insulin. I am not happy as I hate needles and I might have to inject myself 3 maybe 4 times a day depending on what they tell me.
On a brighter note it has been a lovely day here and I puttered about the garden a bit and then I got down to making a card for a cousin of the OH. I hope it cheers her up as she is in a home now down near London and will be 86 or 87 on her birthday. Anyway,it was a quickie from GCF and then I decoupaged the butterflies, added glitter and some ribbon and pretty corners.

Easter Sunday and the sun is shining which is lovely for a change - no rain. Had a lovely lunch with youngest son and DIL yesterday and then back home as I am still not feeling right. I had the diabetic nurse on Friday or so I thought. Made a big boob and got the days wrong so now I have to wait until the 20th for my test results.

Holiday

We are back from our weeks holidays in and around Ayr and had a lovely peaceful time. The weather stayed fine for us apart from some drizzle and fog on the Monday. The sun shone and it was quite warm on Tuesday and Thursday. The highlight of our hols must be our visit to Burns country. We saw the cottage where he was born, visited the Tam O' Shanter centre, the Brig O'Doon which was lovely and finally Kirk Alloway [where the ghosties and ghouls resided in the poem].

Well Mother's Day has come and gone and it's always a sad time of year for me as I lost my mum almost 6 years ago. My sons did me proud though and we all went out for a meal as it was my DIL's birthday the same day. I received a lovely bunch of flowers and a patio rose plant for the garden from my youngest son and his wife. My oldest son, DIL and grand-daughters gave me such a lovely surprise. He had my grandfather's WWI medals and the letter from the Admiralty stating he went down with his ship the HMS Goliath and a letter from King George V send with the memorial medal for those who died in WWI, all mounted in a wonderful frame. I just love it.

One of the medals is missing but I am hoping I can get a replacement once I find out how to go about it.

I am off on holiday on Saturday for a week so no postings on the blog for a while. I am looking forward to the break as I am still not feeling 100% so hoping I will feel refreshed when I come back.

It has taken me longer than I thought to make my next card as my diabetes is not behaving and I have been feeling really awful these last couple of days. Not to be beaten I have struggled today and finally finished the card. It is for my DIL's birthday so hope she is not checking out my blog anytime soon.

Hi fellow bloggers sorry not been on for a while again. Got a lovely email from my friend Nicola in Spain and she has sent be this lovely award which has cheered me up a lot. I have finally started to make some cards after 4 months of doing nothing so I will be posting them over the next few days so here is the first one.

Used some new nestabilites [well actually had them quite a while but never got round to using them], new stamp I had for ages too, then blended in colours with Sakura pens which gives the flowers a slight shimmery look. Added another new text stamp, and little butterflies & ribbon that I had.

Well another grim and gloomy day with no sign of the bad weather and snow letting up! The pavements are not safe to walk on and with my luck I am taking no chances so have missed a meeting today that I had wanted to go to and looks like will miss my craft corner at the church tomorrow too.

Some bright patches have appeared in catching my friend Jak on Create & Craft promoting the latest range from La Pashe - Flippin Women, just brilliant so well done to all the hardworking team involved.

In catching up with my friends blogs I popped over to see Cazz and she has nominated me for the above award, which I really don't deserve. I am so glad to see her posting again as she has been having such a hard time of it at the moment. I feel so guilty as I have been neglecting my poor blog something terrible. My only excuse is that I have not been doing anything exciting at the moment. I did go to my crafting class at the local church last Tuesday, and the ladies are such a lovely bunch and so kind and helpful.
I did some more of my crocheting and the lady teaching me has now got me reading a pattern. I will post the finished project soon but in the meantime here is a photo of my little practice piece.

Another Monday

Another Monday, another miserable week weather-wise. Snowing heavy here today and forecast not looking good for the rest of the week. Trying hard to keep warm and as yet not back to crafting apart from finishing off a couple of cards I did a while ago for family.
Read Julie Walters autobiography which was excellent and started Dawn French's one - not sure about this one yet, will keep you posted.
Using OH PC notebook to keep up with my cyber friends and what they are up to, so all in all not much to report on this last week.

Winter Blues

Sorry I have not been updating my blog but think I have the winter blues. Not been outside since before the New Year and tomorrow finally getting my butt in gear and going to the first church/craft lunch for this year. The weather has been so foul that it has really been a thought to venture outside. OH has been doing the shopping and I haven't been in the crafting mode so I have been TV watching. Terrible really as I received some lovely biographies for Christmas presents but have not made a start on reading them yet. Have to admit just hate this time of year and would just love to hibernate [which I think I am doing!]. Maybe after tomorrow I will find the energy to 'get going'. Is any of you out there feeling the same as me?

Last Posting before Christmas

This will probably be my last posting until after Christmas as things are getting busy preparing for the Yuletide event. I spent yesterday finally getting around to making that final clock for my young son's new home. I do hope they like it and the colours and style I have picked for them.

Our Ruby Wedding Anniversary is on the 27th and we are going up to stay at a posh hotel in Aberdeen for a long weekend. We plan having a meal with just the family to celebrate. I made this card for hubby and hope it is appropriate as my mind just went blank and men are always so hard to make cards for, but I am sure he will like it.

It's getting closer every time I post, so not long now folks until Christmas. At least I am finally catching up and have only half a dozen cards to make plus an Anniversary and Birthday one and then I can relax.
I didn't go out this weekend as my knee as usual was playing up but spent time doing my cards. My youngest son and his wife came for a flying visit on Sunday so it was nice to catch up with them both.
Watched the exciting final of X Factor and thought Alexandria was a well deserved winner, also watched my favourite Strictly Come Dancing but was annoyed about the voting and roll over in the end. I think a lot of voters were very disgruntled about it but the final next Saturday should be exciting.

Christmas Tree

Been keeping busy since my last posting catching up with some more Christmas cards and finally got our new Christmas tree up and decorated but not much else yet.
Went to the craft meeting at the church and stayed for lunch which was lovely. This was the last meet until January but got a pleasant surprise as the Guild have invited to me their Christmas lunch on Friday. Something to look forward to and I will be picked up and dropped off by car so that is a bonus.
Still in a lot of pain with my knee but getting by with lots of painkillers. It's very cold again today and there was a shower or two but no snow, thank goodness.

Well better get back to the cards but here are a few I have done so far -

Saturday

After a week in bed nursing this horrible cold & cough I ventured out today with OH's assistance to get my Christmas cards for Canada and abroad posted. I also bought 24 large stamps for more cards and 30 2nd class and was shocked to find the cost came to over £33 and that's without the cards, postage only! It's certainly getting pretty expensive, last year I paid £20 and thought that extortionate.
We had a lovely lunch at the local 'Bakehouse' - the first decent meal we've had all week as we haven't felt much like cooking. After doing some shopping and ordering our Christmas meat from the local butcher I was ready to give in and go home as the pain in my knee was as bad as ever. It seems that whatever I do to rest it as soon as I start walking up and down the hills here [nothing is on a level] off it goes again.
Hopefully I will manage to do some of the dreaded h****w**k tomorrow and try and catch up on some more Christmas cards. It would have been such a special day if my mum had still been alive, as we would have been celebrating her 95th birthday , unbelievable [ I still miss her so much].

Hello to all and welcome. After such a good week last week up until Thursday I am once again feeling awful! I was in so much pain with my knee on Thursday that I had to phone OH to come and pick me up and take me home [I was in Aberdeen for the day with my pal]. He was feeling pretty awful himself with a bad cold so we both ended up in bed by 4.30pm. Must be a first for us. OH has been nursing his cold all weekend and guess what -yes, he very generously passed it on to me. That's all I need, so once again in bed with nose, eyes and just about everything else running!! I so do not need this just now and am very disappointed that we missed our grand-daughters in their stage show at the Aberdeen Arts Centre but I heard that they were brilliant.
Oh well, back to bed with a hot drink and some cold remedies.

One is for a recently new friend who was so kind to me while I was ill, she will be 60 years old in December. Learning a new skill

Tuesday already, had a quiet weekend and stayed in because of the horrible snow! Didn't do much yesterday either but ventured out this morning to one of the local churches to meet some crafting ladies and have lunch with them. They turned out a really nice friendly bunch and one lady called Sheila is in the process of learning me to crochet. My mum did try years ago but I could never get the hang of it. Found my hands got quite painful after a while so not sure how much I will be able to do with my arthritis but will persevere. Going back next week anyway and she is going to get me to follow a pattern so that will be fun!

It was freezing yesterday and lots of towns and cities around us had snow but not us. Well woke up this morning to a Winter wonderland with everything white. Some parts are beginning to melt in the sun but we are still getting quite heavy snow showers. Think I will stay in today and keep warm and get on with making some more cards so watch this space......

Haven't had much time to craft these last few days had the doctor on Wednesday and now on an extra pill [over and above all the rest that I take]for my blood pressure. The doctor is not happy with it lately as it has been higher on each visit to the surgery. Started taking them today so will see how I get on.
Yesterday OH was off work as he had to go through some tests too as they are concerned for his blood sugar count. I do hope he does not have to go onto pills like me for diabetes as he has enough to cope with. It doesn't sound to bad as his blood sugars were 6.2 and that is good to me as I never seem to get below 7. something but of course I am no expert!
Off out this afternoon to a craft event at the local community centre with a friend, so that should be interesting. Will have to wrap up warmly as it is soooo cold today. Where-ever you are wrap up to and take care. Have a good weekend folks!

Well I promised you a picture of Tia as soon as I had one so here it is. Tia is about 2 and a half years old, is grey and white in colour and is quite shy until she gets to know you.

Introducing Poppy

Another week nearer the end of the month and it has gone by so quickly. I had my grand-daughters staying on Friday and Saturday so it was a lovely change for me. Unknown to them their folks had a surprise for them on Sunday - a lovely Jack Russel puppy which the girls have christened Poppy! On top of that my other son and his wife, got themselves a lovely cat from the Cat Protection League which they have called Tia, so our family has expanded by two - can't wait to see the new editions. Here is a photo of Poppy that my son send us and as soon as I have one of Tia I will let you see it.

Another week gone by again. Thanks to my friends for all their concerns and to Jackie for that kick! Must have worked as I have been up all weekend and out and about on Saturday [first time in three weeks]. Still not myself but the diabetic nurse has started me on some new pills and am hoping that will help. She is also very concerned about my blood pressure and I will probably need to go on more pills for that too but meantime she thinks I have enough to cope with. Have promised myself I will do a couple of Christmas cards today so watch this space. Take care everyone and haste ye back....

Almost another week has gone by and have to admit have not done much at all. Still under the weather and spending lots of time lying on top of my bed, dozing on and off and watching the goggle box which is not like me. Terrible to admit I haven't even picked up a book in all these weeks I have been ill.
I have the diabetic nurse tomorrow so see what she has to say as my bloods are not under control just now. I have been blaming all the pills I have been taking but no reason really this last week. Will probably get a ticking off but not caring as I feel so washed out, wish I had the energy to pull myself together. Need a kick in the butt area I think!

Day three of my being back to normal not. Spent another day yesterday in bed just cannot shake this tiredness, I feel so zapped of energy. It feels like my M.E. all over again which I don't want, so taking it easy once more and so so fed-up! Cannot find the energy or get up and go to do any crafting and am way behind with my Christmas cards. Hopefully I will feel like doing some soon.
I finally emptied out my craft bag from my weekend away in Manchester [seems such a long time ago now]. I came across this little box that I made with stampbord so thought you might like to see it.

It's been quite a while folks since I posted anything, sorry about that but I have been ill with first bronchitis and then my arthritis in my right knee has been really bad. I have been bedded again for over a week as I could hardly walk - today is my first day up. I must say I thought I would be full of energy but just the opposite - I feel like a washed out rag! The leg is still painful to walk on but at least I AM WALKING!
Taking things easy for the next few days so hopefully will get back on track with my crafting soon. Meantime this is another clock that I made for my Canadian visitors while they were off with Mike having a tour around Arbroath Abbey. They loved the clock and it is now winging it's way back to Canada with them.
