Weekend

Had a busy but lovely weekend with my grand-daughters. We had lunch at the House of Dun on Saturday and then because it was such a cold but sunny day, we went on to Montrose and had a wander around and then ended up at the beach cafe where we had coffee and ice-creams. Bought some DVD's for the girls as it was football as usual on TV - we had great fun watching 'Enchanted' much to grandpa's disgust. Helped the girls make cards for their dad and grandpa as it was Father's day on Sunday so that was fun too!

Haven't been on for a few days, have been catching up the the dreaded word h****w**k as I have my two gorgeous grand-daughters coming to stay the weekend today.
I did finally manage to finish the Cecilia Adhern book 'PS I love you' which I just loved. Had me laughing one moment and crying the next. Can see why they made a film out of it, brilliant book.
I also read the latest Jack Reacher one by Lee Child, another brilliant book which starts out quite innocent about two small town's in Colorado and ends up with a sinister involvement with the war in Iraq. Two great but entirely different reads and would recommend both of them.
Will have to catch up with some crafting over the weekend. Haste ye back.............

Craft Class

Had my first crafting class for 2 weeks but unfortunately Trudy were not there but I did manage to show another lady, Evelyn how to do the card and left it with her. Next week I will check on how she and Trudy got on and help them finish the cards. I did amazingly sell two of my demo cards [ the stitched ones] as they liked them so much - that was a surprise!
I had another idea up my sleeve, so I came prepared and managed to get a few of them interested in doing a Movie Quiz. It seemed to be well received and I was asked to make up another one for next week, but questions on capitals of foreign countries. If at first you don't succeed........

New Stamps

I spent Sunday playing with some of my new stamps and making a couple of cards. The first one is for a friend whose anniversary is in a couple of days, not sure if I like it but the photo does not do it justice. The stamps are by Rubber Stamp Tapestry. I ordered quite a few and they are great for borders or making your own backgrounds, whatever.




The second one I made using more new stamps from Magnolia that I bought. Not sure what I am going to put on this one - will wait and see. Tilda is so cute, I used my Marvy Le Plume pens this time. Cut out the tree and Tilda and mounted them on a simple background that I made.

Update

Friday once again, and I have had a quiet few days since Tuesday. It has been lovely sunshine again so I have been out in the garden planting out some impatiens [busy lizzie], osteospermum, cosmos and a hosta for it's lovely green and yellow foliage. Yesterday I visited a friend for coffee and stayed for lunch. It was a lovely day and she has a lovely secluded garden at the back of her house so I got sunburned for free!
Today I have been busy trying to sort out our spare room as OH has finally finished the painting. I put up some sheers in the window and changed the room around. Took a chest of drawers from our room and put my works of art that I made up on the wall. We still have to get our new wardrobe delivered and a new headboard but all in all it is looking pretty good. I am pretty tired now but satisfied with what I have achieved. Next thing we have to tackle is the kitchen!!

Sad News

After a sleepless night with back pain I didn't think things could get much worse today but they did. A dear friend's mum passed away last night after loosing her battle against cancer. I cancelled my crafting class as I couldn't face it and spent the time instead making this.




I never thought for one moment that this would be what I would be doing today. It has given me a little comfort making this one last thing for a dear friend. R.I.P.

Tuesday Craft Class

Spent all day again trying out various things and finally came up with two choices. Both using peel-offs and stitching, so am hoping the ladies will like these. I know one of them is a keen cross stitcher so this is why I thought I would try out another type of card. Nothing too complicated just the stitching [if they want to] and some embossing and chalking. They can also cut out the butterfly and mount it [again multiple choice].

House of Dun

Changeable weather again - woke up to beautiful sunshine but the day got darker and darker and now we have rain. Well, didn't go to our favourite place yesterday, went to our second favourite place - the House of Dun, near Montrose. It is under the National Trust but has a lovely small cafe that is run by an American lady and her home cooking is to die for!
We sat out on the lawn and had a leisurely lunch .

Later we headed off in the direction of Letham where there is a craft shop and a small garden centre. I did buy some craft goodies and some lovely plants too, which I was going to put into pots today but hey ho the weather had different ideas!
